Session 1: DES CANNING - Self-Care for the Massage Therapist
Learn valuable strategies on how to:
- Prepare yourself before the client arrives
- Ground yourself during the session
- Protect yourself when you sense negativity or hostility
- Processing when the client leaves
- The aftermath, namely when the day is done
Des Canning is a Psychotherapist & Hypnotherapist working in private practice in Longford Town since 1998. He works with both adult and teenage clients on topics of emotional, mental and social influence in a unique approach, combining analytical and person-centred counselling. His calm and positive attitude naturally encourages personal growth by the depth of his understanding of humanity in its many and challenging varieties.
Originally from Co Leitrim, Des is married with 2 grown up children and was co-founder of the local LGBT Group, acting in the formative years of the group as its voluntary group facilitator.
Session 2: LINDSAY MCLEOD - Body Harmony
Body Harmony is a hands-on model of bodywork, unique in its approach in that it recognises the innate wisdom within each person’s body, and the unique pathway each body follows to unwind and use that wisdom. The invitation that Body Harmony offers is of re-connecting with that knowing, with your body’s natural intelligence. It involves speaking, listening, observing, applying physical touch and then supporting integration.
As an Introductory module for Massage Therapy students and practitioners, its largest single benefit is in the impact and insights that it brings to bear on the level of skill of practitioner touch.
I'm an irreverent and life-loving Body Harmony practitioner and teacher of over 25 years experience in the embodied arts, I help groups and individuals discover and use the wealth of wisdom inherent in their own bodies.
I’ve now traveled in over 44 countries and lived in several for anywhere from six months to ten years. I have two grown sons and one Andaluz cat, fluency in Spanish and English, and an ability to laugh in French and German too.
Embodiment, obviously, is both my work and my whole life, and I like to infuse it all with curiosity, appreciation and fun.
